USA Cycling sanctioning– what does it mean?
for 2014 two MASS XC races are USA Cycling (USAC) sanctioned. These races are USAC AMBC races and State Championships and they serve as qualifiers (for Cat 1 racers) for USAC Nationals.
At these races all Category 1 classes require a USAC annual Cat 1 mountain license. This includes our Elite/Open Mens and Elite/Open Womens classes. Our elite classes will be designated as Pro/Cat 1 Open Men and Pro/Cat 1 Open Women. Any racer holding a Pro USAC mountain license must race these categories.
Cat 2 and Cat 3 classes do not require an annual license. However, to participate in USA Cycling National Championships at Bear Creek in 2013 and 2014 an annual license is required. Cat 2 & 3 do not need to earn qualifying spots. Check www.usacycling.org for the latest qualifying specifics.
All other MASS races are not USAC sanctioned and require no license.
